For me, music education is about much more than mastering an instrument; it is about cultivating imagination, discipline, and confidence in each student. As both a performer and an educator, I believe piano study should be an empowering experience that nurtures creativity while developing technical excellence. My goal as a teacher is to create a learning environment where students feel both challenged and supported, able to take artistic risks, and inspired to see music as a lifelong source of joy.

I approach piano instruction through three central values: individualization, artistry, and community. Every student arrives with unique abilities, motivations, and cultural backgrounds. By tailoring lessons to their individual needs—whether preparing for competitions, learning for personal enrichment, or engaging with music for the first time—I ensure that students feel ownership of their musical journey. I balance structured technical training with opportunities for creative exploration, encouraging improvisation, composition, and critical listening alongside traditional repertoire.

Equally important is fostering artistry from the very beginning. Technique serves expression, and I emphasize how phrasing, tone, and stylistic awareness bring music to life. I integrate music theory, ear training, and historical context into lessons, helping students understand not only how to play, but why the music matters. This holistic approach equips them with the tools to become thoughtful, independent musicians.

Finally, I believe piano teaching is an act of community building. Whether working one-on-one, in masterclasses, or in ensemble settings, I encourage collaboration and peer learning. In my own teaching practice, I have seen how recitals, workshops, and shared projects motivate students to strive for excellence while building confidence in public performance. As a bilingual educator, I am also committed to ensuring that families feel included and supported in the learning process.

At its heart, my philosophy is guided by a conviction I have carried since my own childhood in rural Mexico: access to music can transform lives. I strive to give my students the same gift I was given—the chance to discover their voice at the piano, and through it, to connect with themselves, their communities, and the wider world.
